Anantara Dhigu Maldives is a five-stars beach resort in the Maldives (
South Male atoll). This place is unique by Maldivian standards, as it's not a single island, but a few islets of different size. Thus there is a shallow lagoon without waves, as well as several tiny islands for day trips. Refined luxury is everywhere. That is fine on the one hand, but you loose a chance to feel the atmosphere of the real Maldives. Shore and seabed: sand.
[edit]
Hotels [edit]
The islands have three different hotels managed by Anantara. So guests are not permitted to visit the neighboring resorts:
Anantara Dhigu Maldives with room fare starting from US$800 per night. It has the best beaches, but the restaurants are overpriced.
Anantara Veli Maldives with rooms from US$700. It's similar to the previous hotel, but the beaches are a little worse.
Naladhu Maldives is the most luxurious hotel (room rates from US$1000). However, as for the beach itself, it's quite the same. And everythig is also overpriced.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Male international airport (MLE). Next take a speedboat provided by the hotel (US$250 for the round trip, 30 minutes per way).
Or alternatively you may take a ferry for a few dollars from Male to
Maafushi island, and next take a boat to the Anantara. In this case, full transfer costs will be about US$80.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a holiday on the beaches of the Maldives is a dry season from January to April.
