Tanote beach
Ultimate guide (December 2024)
Tanote is a perfect snorkeling beach in the east of
Koh Tao island, Thailand. The bottom is mostly coral, but there are also occasional areas suitable for swiming. In the south end of the bay there is a famous huge rock with funky jumpers into the water. The beach has no a lot of trees, but on the other hand it doesn't suffer from low tides. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Near the beach of Tanote there are several hotels with the lowest cost of room about US$20 per night. This is probably the best place on Koh Tao to stay far away from the crowds.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Bangkok international airport (BKK). Next get to Koh Tao by
Lomprayah catamaran, - but anyway you'll get by bus from Bangkok to
Chumphon. It is best to hire a taxi to get to Ao Tanot beach, as the road is very good. There is also scheluled shuttle minibus running between the beach and Ko-Tao pier (100 bahts per person).

The best time for a beach holiday in Ao Tanote bay of Koh Tao is a dry season from late December to September.
