Atata is a a small tourist island to the north-west of
Nuku'alofa - the capital of Tonga in
Tongatapu island. While the beachfront resort is quite good, the beach itself is rather mediocre by the standards of Oceania. Shore and seabed: sand.

Hotels [edit]
Royal Sunset Island Resort is the only hotel in the island. Double room starts from US$120 per night.
Day trips to Atata Island are also possible from Nuku'alofa, - including Sundays. The daily tour costs US$30 including lunch.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Tonga International Airport (TBU). Next get to
Nukuʻalofa by taxi or by bus. The boat to Atata island runs at 10 am and returns back at 4 pm. The journey takes 30 munites per way.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in Nuku'alofa of Tonga is a dry season from May to October.
