Bongoyo is an island in the central Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Tourists are dropped off on a sandspit in the west end of the island. There is white sand and good entry into the water, but not trees. You may rent tiki huts to get some shadow. There is also northern beach, that gets less tourists. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Bongoyo island has no hotels, as well as camping is prohibited. So this is a purely daytrip destination.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Dar es Salaam international airport (DAR). Next get to
Msasani Slipway Resort pier by taxi or by bus, and order a day trip to Bongoyo island. The boat runs half an hour per way and costs US$20 per person (minimum 4 pax).
When to go [edit]
The best time to relax on the beaches of Bongoyo island in Dar es Salaam is a dry season from June to September.
