Chalok Lam is a beach in the north of Phangan island, Thailand. The most beautiful area is located in the west (aka
Malibu Beach). It has scenic trees, but sea water is too shallow. However, you can walk a little to the right - to the spot with good depth and many picturesque palms. As for the east end of the beach, it is not very attractive. Since there are a lot of stones protecting from the coastal erosion. And only in the east end - near Fanta hotel, views are beautiful, and entry into the water is comfortable. Please note that like everywhere in Koh Phangan, sea bottom is somewhat muddy, while the water is slightly green. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
In Chalok Lam beach, beachfront resorts start from about US$120 per night. But if you move a little away from the coastline, you'll find guesthouses from as low as US$30.
How to get there [edit]
You may get from Bangkok to Phangan island by
Lomprayah high-speed catamaran. But the best is to fly to Samui island, and next get by ferry from Maenam beach to Phangan island.
There are two options to fly from Bangkok to Samui:
1. Direct flight to
Samui Airport (USM). This way is most convenient, but also the most expensive.
2. Fly to
Surat Thani airport (URT) by
AirAsia low-coster. Then get by taxi (1200 bahts) to
Donsak Pier. Then get to Samui by any ferry (
Raja ferry is the best, but other services are also good). It is
the best value for money way of getting to Koh Samui, but takes a little longer time, as the road from Suratthani airport to Samui takes a few hours.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in Pha-ngan island is a dry season from January to April, as well as second dry season from June to September.
