Dakhla is an iconic kite beach in the
Western Sahara - de facto the south of Morocco. It's not as comfortable as similar
Sotavento beach in the Canary, but it has much more wild freedom. This is also the place where Exupery made his legendary flights. Shore and seabed: sand.
[edit]
Hotels [edit]
The town has several hotels with different prices. However, the most interesting are hotels in the north of the Dakhla lagoon, where most of the spectacular kite photos were made.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Agadir airport (AGA) or fly to
Casablanca International Airport (CMN). Next, you will have a long and expensive safari along the desert. But you'll get a unique journey into one of the most remote places of the Earth. There are also bus services from Agadir and Casablanca to Dakhla, which are much cheaper, but very uncomfortable same time.
If you are not so romantic, it is better to fly to the
Dakla airport (VIL), which even serves international flights from the neighboring Canary islands.
When to go [edit]
There is a strong wind in Dakhla all year round. However, the best time for kitesurfing is a period from April to September, when the wind is above all the limits.
As for a pure beach holiday it is best from June to October, when the sea water is relatively warm. But the wind will not give you a chance for a comfortable swimming.
