Dauphin island is a barrier island in southern Alabama. The east end has a lot of trees, while the west end is just a long sandspit. Almost all interesting beaches take admission fee, though these are quite mediocre. The island has also Fort Gaines of the Civil War period. Shore and seabed: sand.
