Des Amandiers beach
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Des Amandiers is a great beach in the north of Basse Terre island,
Guadeloupe. Starting with a huge parking lot, you immediately realize that this is a respectable location - unlike most of Guadeloupe. The whole territory is well kept, with many pavilions, but unfortunately no shower, nor toilet room. The bottom is rocky in the central bay area. Therefore, it is better to swim in the west end or in the east end. The beach has quite different areas. We recommend to walk along the coastline to understand, where you prefer to spend a day. There is also a viewpoint in the east, but it's not very impressive. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
There are not many accommodation options near the Amandiers beach. However, within a walking distance, you can find good hotels with rooms' rates starting from US$60 per night. Just don't forget to make a reservation in advance. This is not Thailand, and it makes no sense to roam around the street searching for a free room.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Guadeloupe international airport (PTP). Then take a bus to the Central Bus Station (1.2 euros per person), next transfer to bus going in the direction of Deshaies (4 euros per person) and get off right after the Sainte Rose. Ask the bus driver to drop you off near Des Amandiers, or just watch your location on Google Maps.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in Guadeloupe is a dry season in the winter half of the year. As for the summer, there are a lot of algae coming from the Atlantic. However, due to regular cleanups, the sand is clean on Amandiers beach even in September.
