El Ensueno beach

El Ensueno is a beach located to the east of Colonia del Sacramento town in Uruguay. West side of the coastline is wild with a beautiful forest. While to the east, this settlement is called Santa Ana - looking more like a city beach, thus being not so beautiful. In general, this place is great for secluded walks along the coast. As for the swimming, it is not the best spot due to the shallow waters in the ocean. It is not swimmable during the low tide, so you'll have to walk to the depth for a long time. Hotels [edit]

Near the beaches of El Ensueño / Santa Ana, there is a large choice of hotels with rooms' fares starting from US$80 per night. Lumminis Resort & Spa is the only beachfront hotel with a pool. All other options are just basic houses, but still good enough.

Fly to Montevideo international airport (MVD). Next get by bus or hire a taxi.

When to go [edit]

The best time for a beach holiday in Uruguay are January and February. Since sea water is very cold the rest of the year.
