Feridhoo is the local island in the
North Ari Atoll, Maldives. Most of the coast is wild with lush tropical vegetation including occasional palm trees. There is also bikini-beach, - it's very good in all respects and one of the longest in Maldives. Costal snorkeling is great as well. Shore and seabed: sand.
[edit]
Hotels [edit]
Feridhoo island has several cozy hotels with room's rates about US$100 per night including all taxes. The island is not wide known among the budget travelers, - mainly due to the bad transport accessibility. That's why the coast is always empty: there are just a few tourists on the island, while the locals are not interested in beaches.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Male international airport (MLE). Next get to
Ukulhas island by
MTCC ferry -
route 304. It takes 4 hours 15 minutes, ticket price is about US$5 per way:
- departure from Male at 9:00 on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday;
- departure from Ukulhas island at 10:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
Next take
ferry #305 to Feridhoo island. Ferry takes 2 hours per way, and runs every day except Friday:
- departure from Ukulhas island at 14:00;
- departure from Feridhoo island at 7:35.
Instead of trying to get to the island in one day, it will be more reasonable to visit some other local islands located along the ferry's route (both on the way there and back).
It is also possible to get to the island by public speedboat for US$65 per person per way. Usually the boat visit other islands on its way, so the travel time may vary from 2 to 3 hours.
When to go [edit]
The best time to travel to the beaches of Feridhoo island in the Maldives is a dry season in the winter half of the year. The rainy season is good as well, but you are unlikely to see this place in all its beauty.
