Fiumicino is a seaside resort being the nearest one to the main airport of Rome. To be true, it has no good beach. The entire coastline is covered by artificial bays of various sizes, and these are almost completely separated from the open water by breakwaters. It's more like pools with sea water. Children feel happy there, but many adults don't like this. Shore and seabed: sand.
[edit]
Hotels [edit]
Fiumicino has a lot of different accommodation options with rooms' fares about US$50 to US$120 per night. This is a great place to spend a night before or after a long flight.
Good news are that the runway is located quite far from the town, so landing planes will not disturb you. But departuring planes still can be seen very good and produce loud noise.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to Rome airports of
Fiumicino (FCO) or
Ciampino (CIA). Take a train to the station of
Fiumicino Aeroporto. Of course, if you are already in Fiumicino airport, you don't need a train.
You can easily get from the airport to Fiumicino city by bus for just 1 euro. Or you may take a taxi for 20 euros per way.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in Fiumicino is a warm period in the summer half of the year.
