Fun Island is an inexpensive island resort in Maldives,
South Male Atoll. The north end of the island has a great sand bar, while the west coast is suitable to relax on the beach under the shade of trees. There is also a house reef with good snorkelling. While the hotel is quite basic, the beach itself is so good, that there's no sense to take tours to uninhabited islands. However, coastal vegetation is poor, and the trash can often be met ashore, - but this is quite typical for the Maldives. Shore and seabed: sand.

Hotels [edit]
Fun Island Resort is a budget 3-stars hotel with a minimum room's rate of US$150 per night (but for most dates fares start from US$300). There are no overwater bungalows, that is even better, as nothing spoils the view from the beach.
The service is not very good, but it's Ok for a budget hotel, as value for money is good. But you should be careful with meals and additional costs, as the final bill may turn out be a bad surprise for you.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Male international airport (MLE). There are two major options to get to the island:
The first option is a resort's speedboat, - expensive, but fast. It will take just 40 minutes to get from the international airport to the hotel. Fares are US$200 for the round trip, children of 2-12 years - US$100 (including all taxes), infants are for free.
The second option is not so comfortable, but cheaper as well. You should take a public ferry to
Guraidhoo island (US$2 for the one-way), and next hire a local boat to take a short trip to the Fun Island (about US$50 per person for the round trip).
When to go [edit]
The best time to stay on the beaches of the Fun Island Resort in
Bodufinolhu island is a dry season from January to April. All other times the weather is also suitable for a holiday, but there are no many sunny days.
