Guraidhoo is an inhabited island not far from the main airport of the Maldives (
South Male atoll). The beaches are mediocre - with rocky bottom and without palms. However, you can walk over the shallow water to
Lhosfushi islet, - beautiful (but still with a rocky bottom), and with bikini sunbathing area. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
The island has a dozen of hotels with room starting from US$100 per night (including all taxes). Many hotels have their own restaurant. In addition, you can buy some food in local shops, - prices are cheap, but the choice of goods is very limited.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Male international airport (MLE). Next take a
ferry MTCC -
Route 311. It takes 2 h 15 min per way, ticket fare is about 2$. The ferry runs every day except Friday:
- there: Male - Gulhi - Maafushi - Guraidhoo, 15:00 - 17:15
- back: Guraidhoo - Maafushi - Gulhi - Male, 7:00 - 9:15
Private speedboat is also available (including Friday) for the minimum fare of US$200 per way.
When to go [edit]
The best time to travel to the beaches of Guraidhoo island in South Male Atoll is a dry season in the winter half of the year.

Useful information [edit]
We recommend you to pay attention to other islands with inexpensive guesthouses:
Maafushi and
Gulhi. Both are also located on the South Male Atoll.
Also it makes sense to stay in the nearby
Kandooma Island, or at least take a day trip. Boat there will cost you a maximum of US$50 for a round-trip. Though that hotel is more pricey than Guraidhoo, it is worth to spend at least a night like a millionaire.
