Hookipa Beach Park

Hookipa is a famous surfer beach in the north of Maui island, Hawaii. Most of the coast is rocky, but there is an area in the north end with a sandy bottom and calm water. In the evening you can often see huge sea turtles ashore. You may come close to watch them, but it is not allowed to touch turtles. Shore and seabed: rocks, sand. [edit]

The nearest to Hookipa beach hotels are located a mile to the west in the village of Paia. Prices are high - as everywhere on Maui, so all the budget options should be booked much in advance.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to Honolulu international airport (HNL), next fly to Maui island airport - Kahului (OGG). There are also direct flights to Maui airport from USA and Canada. Next hire a taxi. There is a parking near the beach, but it may be hard to find a free space.

When to go [edit]

The best time for a holiday in Hookipa Beach Park in Hawaii is a warm period from June to October, when sea water is warm enough. As for the surfing, it is better to choose winter half of the year.
