Jambiani beach
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Jambiani is a great beach in the southeast of
Zanzibar island. This is quite a typical beach for the island - with strong tides, seaweed plantations, fishing boats and endless hotel's fences. By the way, low tide is not such a bad time. Yes, it's impossible to swim. But on the other hand, you can walk right to the house reef with outstanding snorkeling. In public beach areas, there are a lot of vendors with their "great deals", but there's nothing you can do about it. After all, this is poor Africa, so every tourist is just a walking bag of money from the point of view of the locals. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Rooms' fares in the hotels of Jambiani range from US$20 to US$300 per night. Considering that this is Africa, the cheapest options are usually not recommended. Expect to pay about US$100 per night. For the money you can stay in a very decent hotel - even by European standards.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Zanzibar international airport (ZNZ). Next hire a taxi.
At the current time, there are many direct flights to Zanzibar. So connections flight via Dar es Salaam makes sense only in case, if you plan a safari on the mainland.
When to go [edit]
Feel free to relax in Zanzibar any time of year - except for the pronounced rainy season in April.
