Kauna'oa beach

Kauna'oa is the best beach on the Big Island of Hawaii. This is the rare place on the island, where most of sea bottom is sandy. North end of the beach (near the hotel) is more beautiful - with picturesque palms. As for the south end, it has a lot of trees being also great spot. There is a public shower and toilet, as well as sunbeds rental. Access to the beach is free for everybody. But parking space is limited. If it is full, you may try to return later. You will have to pass through the hotel security twice, since they control access to the beach for non-guests. Shore and seabed: sand, stones. [edit]

Mauna Kea Beach Hotel Autograph Collection is a 5-star upscale resort with rooms' fares starting from US$1000 per night. The hotel is very good, but value for money is not the best. Since one might expect much more for the money they ask. Probably, this is the reason, why there are always just a few guests.

Fly to Honolulu international airport (HNL). Next fly to Kona international airport (KOA) or fly to Hilo airport (ITO).
