Kelaa island
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Kelaa is a local island in the east of
Haa Alifu atoll, Maldives. The entire west coast is a perfect tropical beach. In fact, the island is located on the edge of a mini atoll. So sea water in the lagoon of atoll is almost like a pool - azure, clear and without waves. There are also many trees and palms ashore. While the village has a good choice of hotels and cafes. In addition, in the south of the island, there are ruins of the former British airbase (WWII). And, of course, any hotel will offer you lagoon tours, as well as snorkeling/diving tours and ocean fishing. Shore and seabed: sand.

Hotels [edit]
Beach Home Kelaa is a good guesthouse with rooms' fares starting from US$80 per night. There are also few other guesthouses. Their contact details can be found on Google maps. If you see on booking site extraordinary high taxes, it makes sense to contact the hotel directly. Most likely this is just a mistake, or maybe they don't have free rooms for your dates. Anyway, it is worth to clarify everything in advance - in order to avoid unpleasant surprises on check-in. You may also ask the hotel about additional options. For example, sometimes they give private sunbeds on the beach.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Maldives international airport (MLE). Next make a domestic flight to
Hanimaadhoo airport (HAQ). Next get by boat provided by your hotel. Round transfer from Male and back start from US$250 per person (discounted fares are available for children). Please note, that private resorts always give more upscale price for domestic transfer.
When to go [edit]
