Kilimajuu beach
Ultimate guide (December 2024)
Kilimajuu is a secluded beach in the east of
Zanzibar island, - not far from Mnemba islet famous for its outstanding snorkeling. The sea goes far away during low tides. But this is a great time to look at the marine life on an exposed bottom. And anyway, there will be a period of high water during the daytime. Along the coastline, there are many palms turning into the forest, from which often come pretty animals looking like lemurs. As for the sand, it's totally perfect - white, soft and without pebbles. In the water, it is better to be in coral slippers, in order not to hurt your feet and not to step on sea urchins. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Rooms' fares in the hotels of Kilimajuu start from US$80 per night. Even cheapest accommodations are very decent even by European standards.
Please keep in mind, that all hotels' restaurants are very expensive. This is probably due to the fact, that there are no shops or independent beach restaurants around.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Zanzibar international airport (ZNZ). Next hire a taxi.
At the current time, there are many direct flights to Zanzibar. So connection flight via Dar es Salaam makes sense only in case, if you plan a safari on the mainland.
When to go [edit]
Feel free to relax in Zanzibar any time of year - except for the pronounced rainy season in April.
