Kurendhoo is a local island on
Lhaviyani Atoll, Maldives. Cheapness is the only reason to spend a vacation here. As for the rest, everything is very bad. There is no bikini beach, as well as no any kind of beach to speak of. There is also no good snorkeling around the island. The dirt and garbage are everywhere, - on the shore, and at the sea. Locals offer excursions to the neighboring uninhabited islets, which have good beaches. However, if you take these trips every day, the whole journey will become quite expensive. Shore and seabed: stones, sand.

Hotels [edit]
Aligaa Fishing Lodge is a good guesthouse with rooms' fares starting from as low as US$44 per night (not including 23% taxes and additional US$3 fee per person per night). Conditions and service are probably even better than in most local islands.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Maldives international airport (MLE). Next take a public speedboat to Kurendhoo (Monday, Thursday, Sunday). One way fare is US$33 per person, the journey takes 2.5 hours:
- departure from Male at 8 am
- departure from Kurendhoo at 2 pm
The speedboat can often be cancealed due to bad weather conditions. In this case, night cargo ship is the only transportation option to the island (once per week, 8 hours per way).
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday on the island of Kurendhoo is a dry season from January to April.
