La Jolla beach
Ultimate guide (December 2024)
La Jolla is a great beach in the northern San Diego, USA. The place is beautiful with a good palmed promenade, as well as with interesting buildings. Of course, this is not real tropical paradise, since it's not the Caribbean after all. But there is everything for swimming and for sunbathing. The waves are strong enough, but it's quite Ok by California standards. The north end of the beach features scenic cliffs. Shore and seabed: sand.

Hotels [edit]
Beachfront hotels start from US$200 per night in La Jolla. A short distance from the beach, you can also find rooms from US$150. But it is better not to make experiments with budget accommodation options :)
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
San Diego international airport (SAN). Next get by bus to the stop of
La Jolla Shores Dr & Camino Del Collado.
When to go [edit]
In California, the best time for a beach holiday is August. However, the water is still very cold even at this time. The reason are cold currents making the ocean cold near the entire Pacific coast of North and South Americas.
