Marae Taputapuatea beach
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Marae Taputapuatea is a beach in the east of
Raiatea island, French Polynesia. Actually, this is not a beach at all. While sunbathing is good enough, the swimming is almost not possible due to the rocky bottom. Concrete breakwater along the water's edge also spoils the view. It is worth to mention ancient ruins of some archaeological value. But in reality it looks just like the foundation left after the old house being removed. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Hôtel Atiapiti is a 4-star property with rooms' rates starting from US$200 per night. Polynesian style bungalows are nice. However, they look quite basic for the money. Please also keep in mind that the beach is below the average standards. So this accommodation options looks quite overpriced.
How to get there [edit]

Raiatea airport (RFP). There are also direct flights from Tahiti island, as well as from some other islands.
