Maras beach
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Maras is a beach in the southeast of Northern Cyprus. It is located right near the border with the greek area of Cyprus. This is a very cool spot, if you like abandoned objects and post apocalyptic views. This is a town with high-rise hotels - since 1974 being self destroyed and overgrown with grass, trees and other wild vegetation. As for the beach itself, it is also beautiful, with clear water and without crowds of tourists. Visiting restricted object is possible from 8:00 to 20:00 only. Admission is free, but sunbeds are available for a reasonable fee. You can get here from Famagusta via
Varosha entrance. You can walk, or rent a bike, or get by shuttle minibus. There is a beach cafe with limited choice. All payments inside the "complex" are possible only by credit card. Shore and seabed: sand.
