Matagorda Island
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Matagorda is an island on the Gulf of Mexico in Texas. The beach is quite the same as everywhere around - with sand dunes and muddy water. Good thing is the lack of cars running along the coast. As for the downside, it is worth to mention a very limited choice of amenities (there is only a day use camping). Please note, that most of the island is a National Park. Therefore, snakes and alligators can be met much more often in comparison with highly developed areas. Shore and seabed: sand.
