Matareva beach
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Matareva is a beach in the southwest of
Upolu island, Samoa. The beach is beautiful - with picturesque palms, white sand and spectacular black rocks. Entry into the water is smooth, with a sandy bottom and without strong waves. There are also areas with great snorkeling on the rocks. The only problem is that it is hard to get here. The road is bad and dusty. So 4WD vehicle is advisable, - or just to walk the last mile. In addition, both the village and the hotel charge their fees to get by car to the beach. However, you'll have to pay even if you walk. It's like that everywhere on Upolu. But it's not a problem in this case, since this is one of the best beaches on the island. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Matareva Beach Fales is a guesthouse with rooms' rates starting from US$150 per night. If you don't plan to stay in their rooms, the hotel will also charge you an entrance fee of about US$20 per car, - in addition to US$10 charged by the village to pass the road to the beach. Rooms' conditions are basic. So the place seems to be slightly overpriced.
