Mathiveri is an inhabited island in
North Ari Atoll, Maldives. Many budget travelers choose it for a sandbank located nearby (
Picnic island). However, it's not possible to walk there, while strait swimming is dangerous due to the strong currents. Thus you should pay to get there: hire some local man with a boat or rent a kayak. Mathiveri island has a bikini beach, but it's rather mediorce in comparison with
some other local islands. In fact, even that Picnic island is not good enough. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Mathiveri island has a dozen of hotels with rooms about US$100 per night (including all taxes). Beachfront resort of
Casa Mia looks great, but it's rates are comparable to the neighboring five-star island resorts. However, Casa Mia room's fare features "all inclusive" meal plan, as well as free dives. So it is worth to stay here only in case, if you are a diver, who likes to eat a lot.
