Ombak is central beach in the west of Kapas Island, Malaysia. Views, swimming and snorkeling are good enough. Unfortunately, this small beach is totally overdeveloped with three major hotels. In addition, many daily tourists visit it during the weekends. Plus, there is a fire show every evening with loud music. So this is very overcrowded spot by the island's standards. Kapas Coral Beach Resort is a four-star hotel with rooms' rates starting from US$60 per night. There are also few other hotels on Ombak Beach:
Ombak Kapas Island Beach Resort and
Kapas Boutique Chalet (KBC). Conditions are basic. But it's Ok for the money. In fact, there is nothing like four stars on the whole island. All the hotels on Kapas are either good two stars or bad two stars.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Kuala Lumpur international airport (KUL). Next get by domestic flight to
Kota Terengganu airport (TGG). Then get by taxi to the pier of
Marang town, and get by speedboat to Kapas island.
Attention! You should always ask your hotel about transfer options, as well as to book boat in advance for exact time and exact pier.
