Large number of cheap guesthouses, great beaches and good tourist infrastructure attracts many downshifters, who sometimes live here for years. However, Playa del Carmen has several luxury beach resorts that can beat the best Cancun hotels.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to Cancun airport (CUN). Then take a bus to Playa del Carmen. We recommend 1st class, as a second-class coaches have a lot of negative reviews.

When to go [edit]

The best time for a holiday on the beaches of Yucatan Peninsula is a dry season from November to April. However, the summer half of the year is also good enough, since there are no crowds of tourists, and the sea water is warmer.
