Playa Larga beach
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Playa Larga is a low key beach located to the north of Portobelo, Panama. It is also known as
Playa Cacique. There are great viewpoints overlooking small offshore islands. Swimming is good enough. However, sea bottom is more suitable for snorkeling due to the stones covered with algae. However, there are many trees ashore, while no waves in the water. So anyway, this is a great spot. Please note, that locals try to charge US$5 for parking. Or you may try to tell, that you are going to a restaurant. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Ciel y Miel Eco Lodge is a great boutique resort located atop. Rooms' fares start from about US$300 per night. They also have a very expensive restaurant. Probably, this is the only problem with this property.
In the village of Cacique, there is also much cheaper hotel called
Villa Betel Caribbean's Boat. However, their service is also rather poor. In addition, some other accommodation options can be founded in airbnb.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to the
major Panama international airport (PTY, Tocumen) or fly to
secondary Panama international airport (BLB, Balboa). Next take a taxi or get by bus.
When to go [edit]
It is always rainy season on the Caribbean coast of Panama. However, relatively dry seasons are January, March and October.
