Praia Pesqueira beach
Ultimate guide (December 2024)
Praia Pesqueira is a beach in the north of
Rolas Island, Sao Tome and Principe. This is the main beach on the island. The only village is located here. All boats from Sao Tome Island also arrive right here. Area around the village is somewhat ugly ashore. However, if you walk a little to the right, it will be much better. There are cafes and souvenir shops in the village. And if you walk a little further atop, you'll get to famous Equator Landmark. However, the real equator is not there, but somewhere on the way to monument. It is worth to look at Google Maps on your phone to find the exact location of equator. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Pestana Equador is a decent resort with a swimming pool. As for now, it is not operating. But it may be open any moment. In addition, you can rent a room in the village. Conditions are basic. But it's Ok to get a chance to stay few days on Rolas Island.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Sao Tome international airport (TMS). Next hire a taxi. There is also public transport on the island, but the bus routes are not convenient for tourists in most cases. It is best to get to Rolas island by boat from
Praia Inhame beach or from any other beach of the major Sao Tome island.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in Sao Tome and Principe is a dry season from June to September. Unfortunately, sea water is relatively cold during this period.
