Preveli beach
Ultimate guide (December 2024)
Preveli is a beach with palms on the south coast of
Crete island, Greece. In fact, palm grove is located near the river flowing into the sea. The beach itself is rather mediocre - with dark small pebbles, while there are often strong waves in the sea. Besides, it is always overcrowded - even during the low season. But river with trees is quite unusual for Cyprus, so it is worth to spend half a day. You can get here either by 4WD car (parking 2€) or by boat from one of the nearest towns. Shore and seabed: sand, pebbles.

Hotels [edit]
Dionysos Tavern & Rooms is the only hotel near Preveli beach (10 minutes walk along the coast). This is also a delicious cafe - again, the only one in the area. Thus the place is very popular, so you need to book much in advance.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Heraklion international airport (HER) or to
Chania international airport (CHQ). Next hire a taxi or get by bus.
There is also ferry service from mainland to Crete island. Main routes are from Athens (port

Heraklion and to
Chania.
