Roccella Jonica is a superb beach in the south of Italy - in Calabria region. The coast is washed by the warm Ionian Sea. It is sandy! Including entry into the water. But there are also areas with a pebbly bottom, if you prefer like that. There is also a promenade with palms, as well as authentic Old Town with a castle atop. Everything is slightly destroyed - without modern developement. And the killer feature is a palm grove located 600 meters to the east of railway station, and a lot of coastal trees and bushes further towards the port. If this is not enough for you, what about annual
Roccella Jazz Festival in August 12-24? Of course, there are many tourists, but anyway less than in Tuscany. Shore and seabed: sand, pebble.
