Sadet is a beach in the northeast of Phangan island, Thailand. Entry fee is 100 bahts per person. However, no one cleans up the trash. Quality of the beach depends on the season and current weather conditions. So it is better not to book a hotel in advance, but instead visit it to see current situation. Sand mixed with small pebbles is almost everywhere. However, water's edge is mostly sandy. Entry into the water is smooth, but without any shallows. So there is enough water depth even during the low tide. This is a great feature if compared with most other Phangan beaches, where you often have to walk a long way just to get to 1 meter water depth. You may also cross the bridge to get to the neighboring Haad Thong Reng beach, where an abandoned resort is located. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Mai Pen Rai Bungalows is a guesthouse with rooms' rates starting from US$20 per night. However, the cheapest options are ugly. So it is worth to book the most expensive room. Bungalows atop are basic, but have a stunning view from above to the bay. All rooms have no air conditioning. If you book for a long time, you can often get great discount.
How to get there [edit]
You may get from Bangkok to Phangan island by
Lomprayah high-speed catamaran. But the best is to fly to Samui island, and next get by ferry from Maenam beach to Phangan island.
There are two options to fly from Bangkok to Samui:
1. Direct flight to
Samui Airport (USM). This way is most convenient, but also the most expensive.
2. Fly to
Surat Thani airport (URT) by
AirAsia low-coster. Then get by taxi (1200 bahts) to
Donsak Pier. Then get to Samui by any ferry (
Raja ferry is the best, but other services are also good). It is
the best value for money way of getting to Koh Samui, but takes a little longer time, as the road from Suratthani airport to Samui takes a few hours.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in Pha-ngan island is a dry season from January to April, as well as second dry season from June to September.
