Salad beach

Salad is a beach on the north-west coast of Phangan island, Thailand. This is a typical island' beach being beautiful, but with a problem of strong low tides. In addition, sea water is somewhat green. And there is also a lot of algae sometimes. But anyway this is a great place. There are many cheap cafes and hotels, but not many tourists. Near Salad beach, there is a great choice of hotels with rooms' rates starting from US$30 per night. It makes sense to pay a little extra for the hotel featuring a pool. In this case, you'll have a swimming option even during the low tide.

How to get there [edit]

You may get from Bangkok to Phangan island by Lomprayah high-speed catamaran. But the best is to fly to Samui island, and next get by ferry from Maenam beach to Phangan island.

There are two options to fly from Bangkok to Samui:

1. Direct flight to Samui Airport (USM). This way is most convenient, but also the most expensive.

2. Fly to Surat Thani airport (URT) by AirAsia low-coster. Then get by taxi (1200 bahts) to Donsak Pier. Then get to Samui by any ferry (Raja ferry is the best, but other services are also good). It is the best value for money way of getting to Koh Samui, but takes a little longer time, as the road from Suratthani airport to Samui takes a few hours.

The best time for a beach holiday in Pha-ngan island is a dry season from January to April, as well as second dry season from June to September.
