San Juan del Sur beach

San Juan del Sur is a popular beach town not far from Managua - the capital of Nicaragua. The place is very positive with funny youth crowd. The beach has a nice dark sand, but it becomes very shallow during the low tide. Sea water is calm in the bay, but there are excellent surf spots just near the town. Shore and seabed: sand. [edit]

There is a great choice of hotels in San Juan del Sur with rooms' rates from US$25 per night. There are also rental villas with the most expensive being up to US$1500 per night.

Many foreigners stay here for years, as this place is very comfortable. But last time it became unsafe at night in the town. However, this is common problem for the most of Latin America.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to Managua international airport (MGA). Next take a bus from Mercado Huembes station: express bus runs to San Juan del Sur about 2.5 hours. Or you may just take any ordinary bus (3 hours per way) following in the direction of Rivas.

When to go [edit]

The best time to travel to the Pacific beaches of Nicaragua is a dry season from December to April.
