Shark Bay beach
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Shark Bay (Ao Thian Og) is a private beach in
Koh Tao island, Thailand. There are many trees ashore giving a shadow over water during the high tide. There is also beautiful green lawn with palms. As for the disadvantages, we may note a shallow muddy bottom, and corals near the beach (mostly dead - as everywhere). So this is more like a snorkeling spot with the real chance to meet sharks in the morning or evening, - these are not dangerous for man. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Haad Tien Beach Resort is a four star resort with excellent bungalows having a lot of positive reviews. Rooms' fares range from US$100 to US$200, and if you have enough budget, you should definitely stay here at least for a few nights.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Bangkok international airport (BKK). Next get to Koh Tao by
Lomprayah catamaran (from Bangkok to
Chumphon you will be delivered by bus). The best way to get to the beach of Shark Bay is by the water taxi, as the mountain road is very hard.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in the Shark Bay (Tian Og) is a dry season from late December to September. Don't even think to come here in October and November, as it heavy rains that time.
