Shimei Bay West beach
Ultimate guide (December 2024)
Shimei Bay West is a beach in the southeast
Hainan island, China. West end of the coast is wild - with a lot of trees and without crowds of visitors. But in the east, there are few upscale hotels. It is also good - with beautiful tiki huts, sunbeds and picturesque palms. The only problem is that waves are usually strong. But it is quite typical for this side of the island. Shore and seabed: sand.

Hotels [edit]
Le Méridien Shimei Bay and
Westin Shimei Bay are great five-star resorts with rooms' rates starting from US$300 per night. It is rather expensive, but the price is quite reasonable for their service.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Sanya international airport (SYX). Then hire a taxi. Or you may also fly to
Haikou international airport (HAK). But it is located in the north of the island - far from most tourist attractions. You can move around the island by buses. But it can be hard to understand how local transport is operating.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in the south-west of China is April and October-November. The main problem is that the summer is a rainy season (from May to September), while it is too cold in winter (from December to March).
