Sottomarina beach
Ultimate guide (December 2024)
Sottomarina is a popular beach in the southern suburbs of Venice, Italy. It is also the closest beach to Padua. The beach is good. And there is even a decent Old Town nearby - in Chioggia town. Since the beach is very long, you can always find a place to the south without crowd of tourists, - as well as a campsite. After a storm, there is usually a lot of trash washed away from the sea. But everything is clean most of time. Shore and seabed: sand.

Near Sottomarina beach, there is a good choice of hotels with rooms' fares ranging from US$100 to US$300 per night. It is slightly cheaper than Venice. So in summer, it makes sense to stay in Sottomarina making just occasional visits of Venice by boat tours.
