Sri Thanu is a beach on the west coast of Phangan island, Thailand. In the north, it is also called
Zen Beach featuring great parties every evening. The coastline is beautiful. As for the swimming, it is not the best due to the problem of strong low tides. However, even during the low tide, it is quite possible to walk to the depth. This is a great place anyway. There are free tiki huts, as well as cozy shaded spots under the palms. And the place never becomes overcrowded. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
There are several hotels near Sri Thanu beach with rooms' fares ranging from US$30 to US$150 per night. However, the only real beachfront property is
Nice Sea Resort. All other accommodation options are located at some distance from the sea, though within a walking distance.
How to get there [edit]
You may get from Bangkok to Phangan island by
Lomprayah high-speed catamaran. But the best is to fly to Samui island, and next get by ferry from Maenam beach to Phangan island.
There are two options to fly from Bangkok to Samui:
1. Direct flight to
Samui Airport (USM). This way is most convenient, but also the most expensive.
2. Fly to
Surat Thani airport (URT) by
AirAsia low-coster. Then get by taxi (1200 bahts) to
Donsak Pier. Then get to Samui by any ferry (
Raja ferry is the best, but other services are also good). It is
the best value for money way of getting to Koh Samui, but takes a little longer time, as the road from Suratthani airport to Samui takes a few hours.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in Pha-ngan island is a dry season from January to April, as well as second dry season from June to September.
