Terei'a beach
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Terei'a is the only real beach on the central island of
Maupiti atoll, French Polynesia. It's so good, that there's no need to visit remote motus. There is white sand, as well as trees and palms. Probably, it's slightly shallow, so the swimming is good for children only. It is also possible to walk over the shallows to the neighboring Motu Auira, where the beach is even better. Some snorkeling is also possible, - but not very good. The water is clear, while there are many interesting fishes seeing over the sandy bottom. But there are no corals, so don't expect too much. There is also a good cheap cafe giving additional opportunities for a beachfront relaxation. Shore and seabed: sand.

Hotels [edit]
There is a great free camping near Tereia Beach, as well as a good choice of hotels with rooms' rates starting from US$50 per night. For unclear reasons, all accommodation options are not presented in the international booking systems. So you have to search the Web for direct contacts of the owners.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to the
airport of Bora Bora (BOB), next fly to
Maupiti airport (MAU).
There are also direct flights from Tahiti island and even from Raiatea island. Once you are in Maupiti, free boat of Air Tahiti will deliver you to the main island of the atoll. Please also note, that many hotels provide for their guests free transfer from the airport.
