Thong Nai Pan beach

Thong Nai Pan is a beach in the northeast of Phangan island, Thailand. This is one of the best beaches on the island - with all its typical problems. It is beautiful ashore. But sea water is somewhat green, though still clear enough. While the depth is good only during the high tide. However, all these problems are typical for the whole island. The place is located far from it all. So it's not crowded with tourists. But still there are enough of visitors. Kayaks are the only water activities available, - so no gasoline smell or any kind of noise. In the beach of Thong Nai Pan, you can book a great beachfront pool resort with from US$50 per night. But if the hotel is located a short walking distance from the water's edge and has no pool, it will be even cheaper.

How to get there [edit]

You may get from Bangkok to Phangan island by Lomprayah high-speed catamaran. But the best is to fly to Samui island, and next get by ferry from Maenam beach to Phangan island.

There are two options to fly from Bangkok to Samui:

1. Direct flight to Samui Airport (USM). This way is most convenient, but also the most expensive.

2. Fly to Surat Thani airport (URT) by AirAsia low-coster. Then get by taxi (1200 bahts) to Donsak Pier. Then get to Samui by any ferry (Raja ferry is the best, but other services are also good). It is the best value for money way of getting to Koh Samui, but takes a little longer time, as the road from Suratthani airport to Samui takes a few hours.

The best time for a beach holiday in Pha-ngan island is a dry season from January to April, as well as second dry season from June to September.
