Torre Astura is a great wild beach to the south of Rome, Italy. You can relax right near the ancient castle located over the water. There are even occasional Roman ruins around. Along the coast, there are dunes and a pine forest, belonging to a military polygon. So everything is fenced off, and it is hard to get into the forest. In addition, there is a nuclear power station to the east, thus thrilling some tender visitors. The only downside of this place is a crowd of tourists in August. Fortunately, you can always walk a little to the left or to the right. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Feel free to chose any suitable hotel on the
Nettuno beach located to the west. This is a pleasant seaside resort town with a lot of amenities, and just near the railway station.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to Rome airports of
Fiumicino (FCO) or
Ciampino (CIA). Next get by train to the station of
Nettuno, and take a taxi to the town of
Torre Astura.
It is possible to get to the tower, if walk along the coast (10 minutes) in the west direction. Unfortunately, there is a river along the way, you can only wade through (about 20 meters).
The alternative way is to cross the river by the bridge, which is a little to the north. But then you'll have to climb over the gates to the military territory. However, in the summer, the gates are usually open to all tourists, - but only in the daytime.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in Torre Astura is a warm season in the summer half of the year.
