Ushongo beach

Ushongo is an excellent beach in the north of mainland Tanzania. It is almost as beautiful as Zanzibar, while prices are much cheaper, and there are no tourists, nor local beach boys. Also in a contrast to Zanzibar, Ushongo beach has many palms, and has no problem of low tides. So this is a laid back place with an acceptable service. Shore and seabed: sand. [edit]

The Tides Lodge is the most popular hotel on the beach of Ushongo (room from US$250 per night). But there are also few cheaper accommodation options.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to Dar es Salaam international airport (DAR). Next fly to Tanga airport (TGT) and hire a taxi.

It is also convenient to visit Ushongo beach on the way to Dar es Salaam from Arusha or from the Kenyan town of Mombasa.

Feel free to relax on Ushongo beach in Tanzania any time of year except for the rainy season in May.
