Velidhoo island
Ultimate guide (December 2024)
Velidhoo is a local island in the southwest of
Noonu atoll, Maldives. There is no bikini beach. But anyway the coastline is far from a true tropical paradise. Even the official
Rest beach is rather mediocre. The choice of excursions is wide, but it doesn't offer anything extraordinary. It is better to skip the sandbanks, as it is hard to spend the whole day on a deserted islet without any vegetation. There are also several "picnic" islands around with
Raafushi being the closest one. But even these don't offer upscale Maldivian scenery. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Island Host (Veli Retreat) is the only accommodation option on Velidhoo island. Rooms' fares start from US$75 per night. Despite many positive reviews, this is quite a typical Maldivian guesthouse of high standards. Many other local islands may also offer great accommodation options for this money.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Maldives international airport (MLE). Next take 3 hours journey by public speedboat - from US$70 per person per way.
When to go [edit]
In the Maldives, it is best to avoid the rainy season during the summer half of the year. But even this time, you may expect at least a couple of sunny days per week.
