Vommuli island

Vommuli is a private island in Dhaalu atoll, Maldives. The main problem is that, the island is heavily overdeveloped, - with many buildings being located right on the water edge. So, there is no privacy, nor enough vegetation, that we might expect from Maldives. Almost everywhere ashore, there are a lot of broken corals left from construction time. And after all of that, there is no home reef, - no good snorkeling as well. So upscale resort is the only good thing. But for unknown reason, all buildings are made in the ridiculous futuristic style of the late 60's, that looks strange in a tropical paradise. Shore and seabed: sand, stones. [edit]

Hotels [edit]

The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort is a 5-star property with rooms' fares starting at US$1400 per night. In general, everything is luxury. But there are some complaints, that are unacceptable for a hotel of such an upscale grade (and price).

Same food every day, "friendly" staff and extra US$1000 in the final bill. This is not a full list of the downsides. So value for money is very bad compared to many other Maldivian five star resorts.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to Maldives international airport (MLE). Next take 45-minutes flight by a seaplane. The transfer cost is US$670 per adult, US$400 per child 2-11 years old, free for infants.

You may also get from Male by the hotel's yacht. But it makes no sense, since the distance is large, and there is nothing interesting to watch in the ocean.

The best time to relax on the beaches of Vommuli island is a dry season in the winter half of the year.
