Wenchang beach

Wenchang is a beach in the northeast of Hainan island, China. It is also known as Shuxiang Town 书香小镇 or Qinglan Harbor 清澜港. This is one of the rare spots near northern Haikou airport (HAK) with a good beach. There are many palms, while entry into the water is sandy, smooth and without strong waves. The beach is long and without crowds of tourists. And only in the north of the beach, there are many high rise buildings, and thus being slightly overcrowded. Shore and seabed: sand. [edit]

Hotels [edit]

Wyndham Garden Wenchang Nanguo is a great five-star hotel with rooms' rates starting from US$150 per night. There are also some other hotels nearby. But, unfortunately, these are also rather expensive.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to Sanya international airport (SYX). Then hire a taxi. Or you may also fly to Haikou international airport (HAK). But it is located in the north of the island - far from most tourist attractions. You can move around the island by buses. But it can be hard to understand how local transport is operating.

When to go [edit]

The best time for a beach holiday in the south-west of China is April and October-November. The main problem is that the summer is a rainy season (from May to September), while it is too cold in winter (from December to March).
